Dyscolia wyvillei (Davidson,
1878) from the Azores
as illustrated by Fischer & Oehlert, 1892
On this page I would like to make available
data on the taxonomy of the around 400 living members of the
phylum Brachiopoda that I have accumulated over the past few
years.
On this home page UI will make available as
much information on the subject as possible, such as links to
other relevant home
pages, collection listings
and digital
versions of papers.
Please also visit the page
considering reprint exchange on the subject, you may find
the reprint you have been searching for a long time.
To enable me to make such information
available I need your help. We would be very grateful to
receive reprints of your papers as well as material to add to
my reference collection. The material contained in the
reference collection is published as an Adobe Acrobat PDF
file below (see collection
listings). It will be my pleasure to identify material
for you as long as I am allowed to keep some specimens for my
reference collection of samples large enough to allow that.
An up-to-date classification of the
Brachiopoda can be found on EuroBrachNet.
In any case, please do not hesitate to
contact us, preferable by e-mail.

- Smithsonian
Brachiopod files, consisting of an excellent
bibliography, with key words, which is almost complete up
till the early 1990´s, a listing of alcohol preserved
material in the collection of the Unites States National
Museum, an extensive list of genera with their type
species, and a searchable database of type material in
the collection. The USNM holds by far the most extensive
and important collection of Recent brachiopods in the
world, containing the majority of type material of taxa
as described by, among others, Jeffreys, Dall and Cooper.
- North
East Atlantic Taxa (NEAT) Lophophorate PDF document,
compiled by H.G. Hansson, listing the lophophorates found
in the north-east Atlantic Ocean. An interesting
document, not only dealing with brachiopods but also with
phoronids and ectoprocts. You need Adobe
Acrobat Reader to read and print this file.
- EuroBrachNet,
gives addresses of European brachiopodologists as well as
information on events. Very valuable listings of recent
literature on brachiopods and phoronids can also be found
here. Furthermore, an up-to-date classification scheme
(many parts still under construction) is given.
Web-master is Christian C. Emig.
- The
Iberian Fauna project server, mastered by Marisa
Esteban, contains an up-to-date list of the Brachiopoda
of the Iberian Peninsula and Balearic Islands,
authored by Fernande Alvarez.

- Voskuil, R., 1998. On a small
collection of Hawaiian Brachiopoda (Lophophorata).
[549 KB] - Internet Hawaiian Shell News, November 1998:
2-13. [This electronic document does not constitute
publication accordong to the rules of the ICZN. The
document is listed for sake of completeness, the layout
of the publication is a real horror and the editor has
liberally added photo captions and drawings that make me
shiver but anyway, its data]
